The practice of Colon Hydrotherapy, or in its basic form; Enema, was first used by the Egyptians. The Ebers Paprus, of the 14th Century B.C., and the Edwin Smith Paprus (c. 1700 BC.,) both mention enemas and give directions for the use of the enema. By the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, with the advent of rubber and plastic the enema slowly gave way to strict FDA standards and safety in colon hydrotherapy equipment. Dr. Kellogg reported in the 1917 Journal of American Medicine that utilized cleansing of the bowels, diet and of course exercise as a popular treatment. Colon Hydrotherapy eventually gained the attention of James A. Wiltsie, M.D., Who contended that “our knowledge of the normal and abnormal physiology of the Colon, and its pathology and management, has not kept pace with that of many Organs and Systems of the body.”
Colon hydrotherapy ( Colonic) is a safe, effective method of removing toxic waste from the colon without the use of drugs or laxatives. Purified, temperature regulated water flows gently into the colon, helping to soften and loosen accumulated fecal matter in the intestinal walls. The colon’s natural peristaltic action, along with the water helps the body eliminate the accumulated waste and toxins. This process is repeated a few times during a session.
During a colon hydrotherapy session, the client reclines comfortably on a padded backrest. The buttocks rest above an open drain area, a small disposable nozzle is inserted into his/her own rectum. He/ She is in control of the water flow at all times during the session. During the session, most clothing can be kept on and you will be draped, or a gown might be worn to ensure modesty. Your dignity is always maintained.
The device that we use is “LIBBE” are manufactured through compliance with strict FDA guidelines that dictate rigorous accountability. FDA registered colonic system all feature temperature controlled water-mixing and back flow prevention valves, pressure and temperature sensors, water purification, and disinfecting standards. Disposable ‘single-use’ colon cleansing nozzles are provided for each client/patient.
Preparation before session:
It is recommended that the individuals should not eat for at least two hours prior to the scheduled appointment.
Recommendation to follow after Colon Hydrotherapy Session?
Following lower bowel cleansing, the body may feel weary or relaxed. This is simply your body working out and processing through its cleaning period. Proper rest is important for your body to recuperate and rejuvenate.
It is important to re-populate the colon with a friendly source of bacteria such as acidophilus. When used, it promotes a healthy intestinal flora for better fecal elimination and for the absorption of vitamin B vitamins. There are more than 300 friendly bacteria. Some work primarily in the gut system and some strains are also beneficial to travel throughout other systems of the body to fight off bacteria and tissue. Especially the first day or 2, select healthy foods that are soft in consistency: soups, steamed vegetables. Brown rice. For breakfast- cooked whole grain cereals are easy on the digestive tract. Avoid Raw vegetables for approximately 24 hours. The seeds and skins of certain veggies and the tough fibers of lettuce can form air pockets, which could lead to a bloated feeling.
